Ride For Life - Maddy Glynn's Story

Ride For Life - Maddy Glynn's Story

Hi, my name is Maddy. I am taking on the challenge of biking the length of New Zealand to raise money for two babies, Maya Palmer and Aria Connor who have been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. I am stoked to have the support from the crew at Apair, so here is my story...

This is my second year completing March Madness, a concept I dreamt up after a conversation with a close friend.

I asked him what he had planned for his birthday and his reply was he would start the day by running 29kms for his 29th birthday. He ranted on for a bit longer but I had stopped listening and was stuck thinking, how bloody cool of an idea was that?! I wanted a similar challenge for myself. With my competitive spirit and the fact, that I had to complete something harder than his challenge, I decided I would run every day in March adding a kilometre a day until I reached 31km. At the end of March, I had clocked up 497km's and raised $4000 for the Ronald Mcdonald House Charity.

This year's challenge kicks off on the 23rd of February and will take me from the top of the North Island at Cape Reinga, cycling 3000km to the bottom of the South Island finishing in Bluff. The bike ride is part of the Tour Aotearoa Brevet, an unsupported event where 190 other cyclists will take on the challenge. Each rider carries all of their own gear needed for the month-long race including tents, clothing, a toothbrush and food.

The idea behind these challenges is to push myself out of my comfort zone and prove to myself I can achieve anything I set my mind to, all the while meeting some incredible people along the way. A vision I feel resonates with the Apair brand mission and a company I'm stoked to have the backing of.

How can you donate and follow my race?

You can donate through the March Madness 2025 give a little page, go and check it out! I will also have a GPS with me so you can track my live progress. Lastly, I'll be documenting my journey through Instagram. All links are below
